Upcoming (2021) Reviews

Dan Clark ÆON 2 Noire Headphones — It’s their ÆON 2, closed-back, in black, with their perforated pads (though I ordered them with a set of their standard ÆON pads, just in case)…

The Grado Labs RS2e with G-cush are my go-to open-back headphones. The aim for the ÆON 2 Noire is to replace my now-sold but absolutely stunningly-looking retro-pornstash Campfire Audio Cascade which (sometimes) had too much bass and (always) were way too uncomfortable for my tastes (and it’s been a while since I wanted to try planar magnetic headphones although I’m paradoxically scared of hearing planar sound, I mean, short of BAs in IEMs, you and I always heard sound coming from dynamic drivers, right? Exciting stuff!)…

Dethonray Honey H1 DAC/Amp — We all have our preferred DAP interface in our pockets… Why do we have to suffer with poorly designed apps and sluggish DAPs? We anyway bring two devices with us, right? So instead of bringing my DAP with me, I’ll go back to 2015 and bring my smartphone and my Honey H1, that is if I like it (it’s supposedly the shit, but in your pocket, with no screen);

Gaudio Clariden & Nair — Interviewed last year, Gaudio was kind enough to loan me their IEMs which I just received. How does a small Swiss company fares against the likes of the Campfire Audio?
